Artificial Intelligence, Emotional Intelligence, People skills, Spocial Skills

The future of work belongs to those who possess emotional and social skills.

In the Artificial Intelligence abundant world of tomorrow, where technology will do much of the heavy lifting, the human ability to deliver compassion and empathy will become much more valuable. While the technical hard skills will remain important, people’s emotional intelligence will take on new significance.

“The Industrial Revolution required muscle from its workers. The Information Age traded muscle for mental capacity. The future will require workers to be emotionally intelligent.”

Emotional intelligence is this capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.

As the world fills with more sophisticated Artificial Intelligence and omnipresent technology, human skills such as compassion and empathy will define the competitive edge of workers and entire organizations.

Today, the significance of developing and applying social and emotional skills is growing exponentially. Employers are not looking for the same level of deep knowledge and technical skill as they did in the past. In fact, most of them are now saying they are more and more open to accepting non-traditional candidates holding strong social and emotional skills rather than a four-year college degree.

In today’s world, hard skills have a short shelf life, but strengthening your social and emotional skills will never go out of style.

Collective Intelligence, Innovation, Intelligentsia

Isaac Newton

“If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.” – Isaac Newton

There is something called “Collective Intelligence”

Humans have been around for approximately 200,000 years, but up until about 70,000 years ago, we weren’t too different from any of the other animals in our impact on the environment.

Then, in a relatively short period, we became the dominant predator on Earth. A few 10,000 years later, we began settling into agricultural communities, and less than 9,000 years after that, we learned to write. Since then, our rate of progress has only gotten faster.

The modern world we enjoy today is inconceivably different from the world we’ve lived in for the majority of our existence.

What changed?

The answer lies in our ability to pass down knowledge.

Nothing Is Entirely Original

When most of us think about a discovery or an invention, we think of something new; something that did not exist before; something that seemingly came up to us out of thin air.

That is not an entirely accurate way of looking at it.

No discovery or invention is completely original: Any new idea, process, or method is in some way a combination of old concepts and information. Discoveries are never a product of pure single-handed originality.

There is no copyright on intelligence

Our humanoid prosperity as a species rests on our collective intelligence. Alone, and without the power of past knowledge, we would not be where we are today. Individually, we have to rely on others more than to depend on ourselves.

None of us can do it alone, and we do not have to. The intelligent creative process is nothing else than a way of finding relationships between people, between intelligentsia and what is already known.

Yes indeed, there is something called “Collective Intelligence” and by definition, everything that is “collective” does not carry individual ownership.

There is inspiration to be found everywhere.

The Donald: Crazy or crazy like a fox?

Although from a scientific point of view that most doomsday scenario are mostly unlikely for the near future, there are worldwide signs all over the planet indicating that earth and mankind are now experiencing major changes: a major shift in civilizations is about to happen that started one hundred years ago.

Since the origins of man, many societies have been ruled by religious and spiritual beliefs and, all over the world, for years and years, the Apocalypse, the end of the word has been predicted. It doesn’t take a nuclear physicist or a spiritual leader to predict that one day, this earth is going to die.

All planets die one day and, when this will happen, if there are still men on earth, they will also die. This will be the end of the world, as we know it but certainly not the end of the universe. New planets are born every day and the universe is still expanding. But what about a possible global disaster that may happen in our days that could means the near extinction of man on earth?

History, science, studies and researches teach us that in the past, entire highly developed populations and civilizations suddenly disappeared from the surface of the planet on behalf of natural, biological disasters and human behaviors. Entire species disappeared from the surface of the planet in a very short time period, even in minutes and all of this, without any warning.

If this happen in the past, why can it not happen today?

Avoid the Unhappy and Unlucky

Empowerement, Happiness

Unhappy young couple having an argument. Isolated on white.

Never underestimate the danger of associating with the unhappy and miserable.

The people you associate with are critical.

Those misfortunes among us who have been brought down by circumstances beyond their control deserve all the help and sympathy we can give them. But there are others who are not born to misfortune or unhappiness, but who draw it upon themselves by their destructive actions and unsettling effect on others. It would be a great thing if we could raise them up, change their patterns, but more often than not it is their patterns that end up getting inside and changing us. Humans are extremely susceptible to the moods, emotions, and even the ways of thinking of those with whom they spend their time.

The incurably unhappy and unstable, believe me on this one, have a particularly strong infecting power because their characters and emotions are so intense. They often present themselves as victims, making it difficult, at first, to see their self-inflicted miseries. Before you realize the real nature of their problems, you already have been infected by them. In the game of power, the people you associate with are critical. The risk of associating with the unhappy and unlucky is that you will waste valuable time and energy trying to free yourself. Never underestimate the danger of associating with the unhappy and miserable.

There are many kinds of unhappy and unlucky people to be aware of, but one of the most insidious is the sufferer from chronic dissatisfaction.

There is only one solution: quarantine.

Protect yourself from the negative influence of the unhappy and unlucky by learning on how to judge people on the effects they have on the world and not on the reasons they give for their problems. They can be recognized by the misfortune they draw on themselves, their turbulent past, their long line of broken relationships, their unstable careers, and the very force of their character, which sweeps you up and makes you lose reason. Learn to see the discontent in their eye. Do not take pity. Do not enmesh yourself in trying to help. The unhappy and unlucky will remain unchanged, but you will be unhinged.

On the other hand, there are people who attract happiness to themselves by their good cheer, natural buoyancy, and intelligence. They are a source of pleasure, and you must associate with them to share the prosperity they draw upon themselves. All positive qualities influence our lives. Use the positive side of this emotional osmosis to advantage. Associate with the generous souls and you will attain greatness. Gravitate to the cheerful. Befriend the gregarious. Never associate with those who share your defects, they will only reinforce everything that holds you back. Only create associations with positive affinities and you will benefit more than from all the therapy in the world.

There is nothing to be gained by associating with those who infect you with their misery; associate with the fortunate.

Stay Away from The Emotional Manipulator

Emotional manipulators, Toxic people

I learned it the hard way: trying to deal with an emotional manipulator can cost you dearly. Emotional manipulators defy logic. They derive satisfaction from controlling you and creating chaos.

Photo of a sad woman sitting on a chair holding a drink.

I learned it the hard way: trying to deal with an emotional manipulator can cost you dearly.

Emotional manipulators are toxic.

We all know what it feels like to be emotionally manipulated. It can be extremely damaging and destructive. Because emotional manipulation can be so destructive, it is important to recognize it in your own life and to make it a rule to stay away from the emotional manipulators.

Emotional manipulators are naturally very skillful. They are incredibly skilled liars. They will insist an incident did not happen when it did. They will insist they did or said something when they did not. By doing so, they undermine your grasp on reality. They are so good at it that you end up questioning your own sanity.

Emotional manipulators will tell you what you want to hear, but their actions do not match their words. They will pledge their support, but, when it comes time to follow through, they will act as though your requests are entirely unreasonable. They will tell you how lucky they are to know you, and then act as though you are a burden. They make you mold your perception of reality according to what is convenient to them.

they are masters at leveraging your guilt to their advantage. Whatever the problems the two of you are having, you created that situation. Nothing is ever their responsibility. If you get mad or upset, it is your fault for having unreasonable expectations. If they get mad, it is your fault for upsetting them.

They are an emotional black hole.

Whatever emotional manipulators are feeling, they are geniuses at sucking everyone around them into those emotions. If they are in a bad mood, everyone around them knows it. They are so skillful that, not only is everyone aware of their mood, they feel it too.

They eagerly agree to help and then act like a martyr. Whatever they agreed to do is a huge burden. The goal? To make you feel guilty, indebted and maybe even crazy. No matter what problems you may have, they have it worse. The message? You have no reason to complain, so shut the fuck up.

They know all your buttons and do not hesitate to push them. They know your weak spots, and they are quick to use that knowledge against you. Their awareness of your emotions is off the charts and they use it to manipulate you, not to make you feel better.

Stay away from the emotional manipulators.

Emotional manipulators will drive you crazy because of their irrational behavior. Everything they do or say goes against reason. Remove yourself from their traps. You do not need to respond to the emotional chaos. Avoid allowing yourself to respond to them emotionally. Quit trying to beat them at their own game. Distance yourself from them. Establish boundaries. And do so consciously and proactively.

Stick to your guns.

Nobody can manipulate you without your consent and cooperation.Stay away from the emotional manipulators.

They are toxic.

How To Avoid This So-called Burnout

So Tired

“I’m so tired”

These days, it seems everyone is exhausted, that everyone needs some time off.

Even though exhaustion may feel like a by-product of our new and modern era, the reality is that at any point in history, people have experienced exhaustion and theorized it in many different ways. From ancient Greece through the Renaissance, Industrial Revolution, post-war era, to modernity, for each of these era, exhaustion was this hybrid creature, which was not only understood through biological and physical contexts, but at times, also wrapped up in the social and political climates. regardless of the epoch, regardless of whether humans were living in agrarian societies or were bystanders to a world that was modernizing at an unprecedented velocity, people were tired.

Back to the 5th century BCE, Greek physician Galen of Pergamum, building upon Hippocrates’ work, touted the importance of balance between the four bodily “humors” and develop the first theory attempting to define and explain the exhaustion phenomena. For Galen, exhaustion was the result of individual behaviors such as eating the wrong foods, overindulging in sexual activities, and excessive worry. When an excess of black bile threw off the body’s internal scales, the individual exhibited symptoms including lethargy, lack of energy, and sluggishness.

Though some people tended to naturally lean toward melancholia, Galen believed the condition could also be a result of individual behaviors such as eating the wrong foods, overindulging in sexual activities, and excessive worry. For Galen, exhaustion existed in a very holistic realm and parts of that brand of thinking are very much present today. Though the humors have disappeared as a medical model, the holistic theory of balance is something that is still currently practiced in many Eastern models of medicine. Many people also believe that a disrupted body can lead to a disrupted mind.

Over the years, starting in the Middle Ages, exhaustion theories migrated from the medical realm to the church and the responsibility to remain energized was placed solely on the individual. For the religious authorities, exhaustion stemmed from participating in sinful activities that drained energy or submitting to an apathetic attitude that shunned interest in God and the divine good that he created. The solution to exhaustion was simple: upping one’s commitment God and work. In this scenario the individual accountable for lacking the willpower to choose godlier and active pursuits. In the years that followed, exhaustion leaped from one field to the next. During the Renaissance, those ruled by Saturn in their astrological charts were thought to be especially susceptible to fatigue. In the 18th century, it was believed that excessive masturbation depleted one’s energy reserves. It is only in the mid-19th century that medical theories once again took over, when American neurologist George Beard improperly diagnosed and popularized exhaustion as the result of a condition coined as “neurasthenia”.

There is a part of 19th century exhaustion models that still resonates today. While nobody can clearly define the phenomenon, one thing is certain: exhaustion is messy, and the theories behind it do not necessary build on each other. the theories behind exhaustion vacillate between somatic and psychic, between pointing the finger at modernization and placing the blame on the individual. Everyone tends to have one distinct theory that they believe in.

My theory and my solution: too much intellectual masturbation; too much worrying about nothing and everything; stop sweating the small stuff.

I am presently fighting a possibly stage IV cancer. I am undergoing chemotherapy and radiations on a daily basis. In September I will have to submit myself to extensive surgery. My chances for survival: anything between 10 and 53%. Do I worry? Absolutely not!

You want to avoid exhaustion and this burn out sensation: enjoy every day of your life, even the rainy ones. Without rain, there would be no flowers. Don’t sweat the small stuff and make sure not take any bunkum from anyone. Above everything else, stay away from negative people and stay true to yourself.

Hunger, poor

More and more people are now focusing on the poor.

A breath of fresh air is blowing on the surface of the earth. More and more people are now focusing on the poor.

Man can choose between darkness and light. On the part of the people there are times of both light and darkness, fidelity and infidelity, obedience, and rebellion; times of being a pilgrim people and times of being a people adrift. In our personal history too, there are both bright and dark moments, lights and shadows. If we love our brothers and sisters, we walk in the light; but if our heart is closed, if we are dominated by pride, deceit, self-seeking, then darkness falls within us and around us.

For the coming year and the years to come, may the people of the world shun pride and selfishness and open up their hearts to their fellow man.

Trump: the Ultimate Alpha Male

South Carolina Primaries, Trump News

Trump_ The Alpha male

Trump is running an exceptionally visceral campaign.

As Donald Trump’s GOP opponents regroup in South Carolina, they are running into a new political phenomenon: Trump is riding on a wave of adulation. Rarely has a presidential hopeful emerged like Donald Trump, who consistently touts his resume and plans for the nation in sweeping and over-the-top terms.

All politicians like to brag about their abilities and achievements. But Trump is particularly unique in how he talks about himself: “My brain is very sharp, super-genius stuff.’’ “I’m much smarter than you.” “I think I have a much higher IQ.” “I think I went to a better college — better everything.” “I have the world’s greatest memory.” “I’m proud of my net worth. I’ve done an amazing job.” “I’m self-funding my campaign.” “I’m probably the least racist person on Earth.” For many voters, Trump is the ultimate alpha male who says exactly what is on his mind and his appeal is fairly broad in South Carolina where a majority of angry, rural white males feel disadvantaged by the economy and overlooked by the establishment.

Will Trump betray the GOP?

Right now, the GOP establishment is being torn between two conflicting ways of thinking about the clear front runner to be their party’s presidential nominee. The first says that apart from Donald Trump’s chances in a general election, his nomination would be a disaster for conservatism. Having him as the nominee would leave conservatives without a party. The second way of thinking says that while all that may be true, there is little choice but to make peace with the possibility that Trump could be the nominee.

While there is wisdom in acceptance, those verging on panic, have a more accurate assessment of Trump: not only is he not a true conservative, but there is also the possibility that he could betray them even sooner than they think. There is no reason to think that Trump will not turn on a dime the instant he has to face a general electorate, and begin advocating a whole new set of policies. Up to now, during his campaign, he adopted an entirely new set of beliefs, one attuned to what his current audience wants. Trump is not only just xenophobic, but fervently pro-life, pro-gun, pro-God, and pro-whatever else he thinks primary voters want to hear. Unlike other politicians who struggle to explain any hint of contradiction between what they are advocating now and what they’ve advocated before, Trump waves it all away.

Booing Trump during a debate is not a good idea!

Unlike other politicians, Trump seems to have no friends, no allies and no commitments. He is completely stranger to everything that gives any sort of shape and predictability to politics. You say something he does not like: you are dead to him. Any cooperation he shares with anyone is temporary and conditional on him being “treated fairly.” The instant he decides he is not, his former friend becomes his foe. Trump has no real history in conservative or Republican politics and because he is not bothering to court the people and groups who populate the party’s institutions and coalition, he has no promises to keep.

Trump does not care about The Party, and a lot of Republican voters don’t either.

GOP primaries, Iowa, Sanders, Trump News

Trump_The Disrupter

“Despairing white middle-class has long yearned for a white knight to fight for it against the global economic elite.” – Trump is that white knight.

Trump, to enter the race to the GOP nomination, from a billionaire real estate mogul, has entirely reinvented himself and could soon attempt another transformation. In words and deeds, he built his GOP candidacy by antagonizing Latinos and Muslims, immigrants and women, Jews and African-Americans, Asian Americans and the disabled. If he walks away now from his vows to deport 11 million illegal immigrants and to block Muslims from coming into the United States, he would abandon the source of his real political power: the rage of angry despairing white American middle-class.

Trump’s next move will be to capitalize on the outraged and despairing American middle class minorities and ethnic groups. His next story line: “I fight for all of you, I fight for America, I want you and America to be great again, without you, there is no America.” In this scenario, Trump will depict himself as the only one that can successfully fight against the establishment and the global economic elite. The narrative will go like this: “I cannot be bought, I cannot be blackmailed, I know these people, and I was one of them. I was greedy, I am now greedy for you, I am greedy for America, I want to make America great again, and I want to make you great again.”

Starting now, Trump will talk and act as if he was already elected as an assertive and authoritarian president demonstrating true leadership and determination. Instead of bullying and arguing with his opponents, he will ignore them and bring new people under the spotlight with him, people showing leadership and determination, people successful showing resilience with a proven track record demonstrating outstanding performance and results. This will no longer be a popularity contest. This will be the ultimate demonstration of the Trump power.

The question is not if Trump is going to win the nomination of the GOP, Trump will be the Republican nominee. The real question is: whom, from Hilary or Sanders, will Trump have to face for the presidency and can he be successful. The answer to this one is easy: whomever Trump has to face, he will emerge the winner. Facing Sanders would be a closer call but still.

While Trump is a billionaire capitalist turned as a greedy, greedy, greedy socialist and Sanders a self-avowed socialist, both men have tapped into a similar zeitgeist, as Americans are increasingly angry about stagnant incomes and a lack of economic opportunity despite the recovery since the global financial crisis. Trump’s supporters are convinced that he will “make America strong again” while Sanders’ fans believe that he will make the country more equitable for all Americans.

Trump is no longer in the GOP nomination race mood. He is now in the presidential race mood. This is a revolution of the middle class, a revolution of the people. Trump winning Iowa tonight, nobody other than Sanders can stop him.

To be continued…
